Data Management

Data Management is the key to the long term sustainability and reliability of information systems.

The official definition provided by DAMA* is that

"Data Resource Management is the development and execution of architectures, policies, practices and procedures that properly manage the full data lifecycle needs of an enterprise."

DAMA has established The Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK). DMBOK is effectively a body of knowledge that is focussed on the data stewardship, strategy and governance of data. It covers:

  • Data Quality
  • Master Data Management
  • Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
